The stuffing
Naturally, the stuffing needs to be soft. There are lots of different types of super soft stuffing on the market, much of it natural, organic. It was important to me, though, to use the scraps of material I had on hand: old sheets, duvet covers, socks, whatever. Of course, all perfectly cleaned!
Tearing the material into strips of various lengths, then rolling them up and scrunching them into the WD, works pretty well. The result is not unlike the feel of a bean-bag. Since a WickiDoodle's main purpose in life is to make people smile, it doesn't need to do anything else - it can't stand, it's not a puppet, it's not a toy: although it can do all those things and more depending on the imagination of the owner!
It can perch on a shelf and be a companion. Or be among the pillows on your bed as a companion. That means, the texture of the stuffing is not important. It just needs to be safe.
Where to stuff: leaving about 5 cm open at the back works best. Sometimes I have left an opening along the side seam when I've used a whole piece on the reverse side and managed to camouflage it fairly well by hand stitching it closed.
Fully stuffed, this WickiDoodle can now proudly sit on a matching throne 😊
