Twins

Non-identical twins conceived within minutes of each other

A close friend of mine was interested in "commissioning" two WickiDoodles – one for each of her five-year-old granddaughters. My first WickiDoodle-age customers! As with any other "purchase" of a WD, the money would be donated to a charity of choice. WickiDoodles, you see, live in a non-commericalized world 😊

To start the project off, my friend gave me two of her discarded T-shirts which would be miraculously transformed into WickiDoodles. The next task was matching them up to other material. Spot the T-shirts:

It is fun working with materials that have a history: besides the T-shirts, I used an old duvet cover, bits of fabric from another good friend, samples from an interior decorating shop my mother had a half-century ago, and – for those extra finishing touches – vintage plastic buttons and special fluffy yarn from the treasure chest, donated by my sister-in-law, which she in turn received from her sister. The red ribbons are from bottles of affordable Italian wine that was our favorite for many years – and of course we saved the ribbons from each of the bottles 😉 The "belt" from the WickiDoodle on the left is from the border of a checkered table cloth we received from my Danish sister-in-law's parents, Harald and Tora, over three decades ago. My husband even contributed old socks for the stuffing. So there are lots of people wrapped up in this production – and for me lots of memories. The hope is that the recipients will create their own WickiDoodle world, and their own memories around them.

In addition to the challenge of creating similar but different WickiDoodles for two people in the same family – though living in different countries, I thought it would be fun to create reverse sides – in a way making them quadruplets, rather than twins ...

I was eager (read anxious!) to hear what the 5-year-old critics would say – relieved to report that they were very pleased with their new friends. Whether it will be a lifelong relationship is uncertain, there's lots of stuff out there – I'm happy with the here and now 👍
